For nearly two decades, Smart Tuition and its founder Sam Rosen have been recognized in many educational circles as a “pioneer” in the tuition management industry. With 32 schools in 1989, he grew the business to its current level of over 2000 schools, serving nearly 400,000 student accounts in 49 states, totaling more than 1.5 billion dollars of tuition annually.

Rosen has received many honors during the course of his acclaimed career. He was named one of the 25 Most Influential Individuals in Catholic Education by The Peter Li Education Group, was the recipient of the 1995 Distinguished Service Award from the National Catholic Educational Exhibitors and is the first to receive a Lifetime Dedication Award from Today’s Catholic Teacher magazine presented at the 2008 National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) convention. He has served on the advisory boards of the Council for American Private Education (CAPE) and the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA).

Sam has spoken at workshops and seminars at more than 80 Catholic (arch)dioceses, 10 National Catholic Education Association conferences, the Florida Catholic Conference, the annual American Montessori meeting, New York State Non-Public School Administrators Conference, the Missouri Synod Lutheran Education Association, Evangelical Lutheran Education Association.

His close relationships with the most accomplished leaders in private education include: Carl Moser, former president of CAPE (Council of American Private Education), Fr. Tom Gallagher (former Secretary of Education for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops), Fr. Vincent Kelly, Vicar General for the Archdiocese of Miami, Chuck O’Malley, former head of non-public schools at the U.S. Department of Education, and countless superintendents. In 2006, Smart joined forces with ParishPay, to offer even more comprehensive financial solutions for private and parochial schools. On the announcement combining Smart with ParishPay, Rosen says, “In my working with schools across the country for close to 40 years, after much guidance, I decided that it was essential to give schools access to the most comprehensive program to provide schools with financial stability.
